What is Citizen Eco-Drive and how does it work?
Citizen Eco-Drive is a light-powered watch technology that converts sunlight and artificial light into electrical energy. The generated energy powers the watch and surplus energy is stored in a rechargeable power cell, allowing the watch to continue running when no light is available.
Does a Citizen Eco-Drive need battery replacement?
Citizen Eco-Drive watches do not require routine replacement of a conventional disposable watch battery. Eco-Drive uses a rechargeable power cell that stores energy generated from light. As with any watch, servicing may eventually be required depending on age, condition and use.
Can Citizen Eco-Drive charge from indoor light?
Yes. Eco-Drive can generate energy from both sunlight and artificial indoor light. Charging speed depends on the intensity of the light source, so bright daylight generally charges the watch more efficiently than normal indoor lighting.
How long can a Citizen Eco-Drive run without light?
A standard Citizen Eco-Drive can typically run for around six months or more on a full charge without further exposure to light. Exact running time varies by calibre and functions. Some Eco-Drive models with power-saving technology can operate considerably longer.
Why is the second hand on my Citizen Eco-Drive moving every two seconds?
On many Citizen Eco-Drive calibres, a second hand moving in two-second intervals indicates that the watch has a low charge. This is an insufficient-charge warning. Exposing the watch to a suitable light source allows it to recharge, after which normal one-second movement resumes once sufficient energy has been stored.

Which Citizen Tsuyosa size should I choose: 37 or 40 mm?
The 37 mm Citizen Tsuyosa offers a more compact and understated fit, while the 40 mm version has noticeably greater wrist presence. The integrated bracelet also affects how large the watch feels, so wrist shape and personal preference matter as much as case diameter. Trying both sizes is the best comparison when possible.
Does the Citizen Tsuyosa have sapphire crystal?

Super Titanium™ is Citizen's proprietary material combining titanium with its Duratect surface-hardening technology. Citizen states that Super Titanium™ is approximately 40% lighter than stainless steel and has a surface hardness around five times that of stainless steel. It is also corrosion resistant and more resistant to everyday scratches, although it is not scratch-proof.

Yes. Citizen describes itself as a manufacture with in-house watchmaking capabilities extending from individual components to final assembly. Citizen produces both electronic and mechanical watch technologies and has developed numerous proprietary calibres for its own watches.
What is the connection between Citizen and Miyota movements?
Miyota movements are manufactured by Citizen, but Miyota is a separate movement brand supplied to watch companies around the world. A Miyota-branded movement should therefore not automatically be described as the same thing as a Citizen-branded watch calibre, even though Citizen is the manufacturer behind Miyota movements.
How accurate are Citizen automatic watches?
Accuracy depends on the movement: for example, Citizen specifies the calibre 8210 used in many Tsuyosa models at approximately −20 to +40 seconds per day, while the calibre 9051 used in selected Series 8 watches is specified at approximately −10 to +20 seconds per day.
